Hamirpur (HP), May 18 (UNI) The Himachal Pradesh government has started preparations in full swing for the daylong tour of Prime Minister, Narendra Modi to Shimla on May 31st to celebrate the eight years of central government. Sources in the state government told UNI today that the Prime Minister would also release the 11th installment of the Prime Minister Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana to the farmers during the program. During this, the PM will talk to the beneficiaries of 11 schemes. He said the state Chief Secretary Ram Subhag Singh chaired a meeting of the senior officers regarding the preparations for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to be held on May 31. The leaders and workers of the BJP have been given directions by their top leaders to make foolproof arrangements for the Shimla rally so that the function addressed by the Prime Minister is a grand success. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will interact with the beneficiaries of 773 districts across the country from Shimla, the capital of Himachal Pradesh. In this, along with 773 districts of the country, 40 beneficiaries from 12 districts of the state will also participate in the dialogue session with the Prime Minister. The sources said the Prime Minister would address a public meeting at the historic Ridge Maidan and appeal to the people to vote for the BJP in coming Vidhan Sabha elections and to reject other parties that were creating hue and cry for no reasons about the BJP and its working. Meanwhile, the Samyukta Kisan Manch of the state, which is fighting for the interests of farmers and gardeners in the state, has reminded Prime Minister Narendra Modi of his eight-year-old promise before the program in Shimla. Manch's co-convener Sanjay Chauhan said Prime Minister Modi had promised to increase the import duty on apples to the gardeners of the state eight years ago, but this promise has not been fulfilled yet. He said that the central government did not increase the import duty, but due to the policy of free trade, the orchards of the state lost crores in the last apple season due to the import of apples from Iran. Chauhan says that the Prime Minister also promised to introduce a system of compulsorily adding apple juice to all types of soft drinks. It was not completed either. Last year, hailstorms and untimely snowfall caused a loss of crores to the gardeners. The government did some formality in the name of damage assessment but none of the gardeners got compensation of even a single rupee. This year too, due to the drought hitting the apple crop, the gardeners are worried. In such a situation, when the celebration of eight years is being celebrated in Shimla, it is expected that the Prime Minister will announce the import duty on apples to 100 percent and the policy of free trade will be amended.
